THE FES JDID QUARTERThe gates of the Royal Palace The Royal Palace has been build in the sixties. It shows magnificent ornaments and details that are inspired by the Moroccan-Andalusian tradition. Manistreet Fes Jdid This strees leads from the Sammarine-gate in het east, to the al-Qantra-gate in the west. Leo Africanus allready wrote about this street in the sixteenth century. It cuts the Jdid quarter in two halfs and once was the social heart of the quarter. Her you can see the lively trading. Jamaa Alhamra This religious building dates from the forteenth century. Its name means Red Mosque. But because of the lac of red details in the building it is likely that the name referres to the Alhambra in Granada, Spain.
